Building Mobile Apps with Cursor and Replit

Choose the environment as well as the model

Cursor provides a coding environment for understanding projects, building features and reviewing changes. Replit’s mobile workflow uses React Native and Expo. These are not standalone LLM families. Consider where your code will live and what the tool actually delivers.

Define what the prototype must deliver

Example brief: Create a habit list that needs no account and stores data on the phone. Support daily completion and restore records after reopening. Deliver the source, run instructions and the device on which it was checked.

For an existing codebase, try the change-review workflow. For a new environment, inspect how code, data and dependencies are managed after the preview opens. This exercise is not a benchmark showing one tool outperforming the other.

How to check the result

  • Can you inspect the source code and dependencies?
  • Does a build work on the target device outside the preview?
  • Who handles backend services, storage and store submission?

A preview is not a store release

Replit documentation checked on 20 October 2026 supports iOS and Android building/previews but says direct Google Play publishing is not supported. Plan delivery separately and recheck current support before starting. A responsive website is also not, by itself, a native mobile app.

Frequently asked questions

Do these tools remove the need to understand code?

They can make development easier, but data handling, failures and release responsibilities still need attention. Get technical help for changes you cannot assess.
